  • What is YES! i am the CHANGE (YIAC)?

    YES! i am the CHANGE, the flagship program of YES FOUNDATION, is a nationwide mindset transformation program that connects youth to social causes. As part of the filmmaking challenge, youth make 3 - minute social films on a variety of social causes which form an open repository of invaluable communication resources for NGOs.

    In its 5th edition in 2018, the Foundation has further enhanced the impact component of the challenge and has introduced grants worth INR 7.5 Cr for NGOs/Social Enterprises.

  • What was the response to YIAC earlier?

    In 2015, YIAC emerged as the World’s Largest Social Film Movement with 5 lakh participants across 2500 cities and towns pan-India last year

    In 2016, YIAC received an unprecedented response with 1.3 million participants and 29000+ films

    A total of 34000+ films for pro-bono use of NGOs

  • Can I apply offline?

    No. We are accepting online registrations only. On completing a registration form (click to form) an automated link will be sent to you to complete the application.

  • Do you provide samples of acceptable formats for proposals and budgets from applicants?

    There is no prescribed format to submit your story, visual board or director’s statement. However each category has a defined word count so try to be as concrete and cohesive as possible while applying. Here is a sample reference for a visual board. The application form has a link to a sample budget sheet to submit the cost estimate for your project.

  • May I receive support for or apply for more than one project?

    Yes you can apply with more than one project. However this may not increase your chances of selection.

  • Does this program fund actors, producers, writers or crew people?

    No. The program funds filmmakers to produce a 1-minute Public Service Advertisement. The funds cannot be used for any other purpose than producing the project as selected by the Jury.

  • Does this program fund organisational, education, commercial, or<br>industrial work?

    No. The programs only support independent work for the sole purpose of the Social Film Grant.

  • What size budgets does the grant program fund?

    Filmmakers need to submit an estimated budget for the project at the time of submission. If shortlisted, the project will be accurately budgeted in consultation with the filmmaker. Projects will receive production budgets up to INR 5 lakh.

    Basis the decision of the Jury, up to 4 projects may be commissioned for production.

  • Do you have a preference for a certain genre of work or subject matter?

    Though the main subject area for support is live action narrative fiction work, the Social Film Grant is committed to supporting a variety of genres and subjects

  • May I substitute the project for which I received a grant with a different project?

    No substitutions are permitted under any circumstances.

    If your project is selected, a timeline for completion mutually acceptable to all parties will be agreed upon. Please note if your project is selected for production, you may be expected to commence production immediately.

    No, out stationed participants are responsible for their own lodging, boarding and other logistics

  • What is the selection process?

    • Round 1: Detailed online application form including sample of your work, Statement of Purpose and Video Pitch

    • Participation in the Fellowship hones the leadership skills of the youth and is a stepping stone towards their professional careers

  • What is a Fellow Designate expected to do at the NGO placement?

    • Fellow Designates selected after rigorous and multi-staged selection process will be placed in NGOs after an Intensive Induction training with set and detailed deliverables to accomplish in 7 weeks
    • Deliverables will be based on content writing/social and digital media/photography/filmmaking
    • Fellow Designates are expected to attend each day of the trainings and NGO placement and adhere to the rules and regulations of YES FOUNDATION Media for Social Change Fellowship

    Applications will be evaluated on the participant’s passion, intent and presented plan. Shortlisted applicants will be subject to an in-depth phone or in-person interview where the credibility of their project and commitment to the cause will be assessed.

    Yes, you can apply for a project that is already in process. Please specify details of the same in the application

    The Changemaker project entitles the program to receive funding upto INR 10 lakh in addition to capacity building support

    Applicants will have to verify that all the information they are providing is true and has not been falsified. Only in given circumstances, will it be possible to modify information.

    Through it’s flagship program, YES! i am the CHANGE, YES FOUNDATION (YF) will provide grant and capacity-building accelerator support to 25 NGOs/Social Enterprises (not-for- profits) with sustainable and scalable social impact projects. Grantees will be identified through a multi-stage evaluation process with a filmmaking challenge at the beginning and a project pitch at the final stage. Total grant amount to be disbursed by YF – INR 7.5 Cr. over a period of three years.

    The grant is intended to fund innovative, sustainable and scalable project ideas of organisations, that aim to address some of the most pressing social challenges that India faces today.

  • (General Queries)What kinds of ideas would be eligible to receive grant funding?

    Social impact solutions actioned by NGOs and Social Enterprises would be eligible to receive grant funding through the YIAC project. It is important that the ideas are scalable and sustainable.

    Project ideas could come from any important social challenge that India faces today - from waste management to supporting dying art forms to promoting accountability in governance, and pertaining to any geography (example: rural/urban).

  • (General Queries)What is the criteria on which applications would be assessed?

    At the first stage, assessors will rate applicants on the following criteria, basis their responses to the questions asked:

    • Project design – How well thought out is the project idea? Does the applicant have clarity on the exact problem that is being solved and the solution that is proposed?
    • Impact - What would be the potential scale of impact of the project? Equally, how deep and meaningful would be the impact on each beneficiary?
    • Feasibility – Is the project feasible within the socio-economic and socio-cultural context in which it would be executed? Has the applicant considered the practicality of the idea and the risks involved, making appropriate provisions for the same?
    • Scalability – Potential to expand a program over a period of time. Expansion or ‘scaling up’ can be in terms of replicating the program in other locations or increasing the number of beneficiaries in a planned way
    • Sustainability – How will the project continue to function once the grant period of 3 years is over? What is the likelihood of the project continuing with minimal support from current donors?
    • Innovativeness – How original and fundamentally different from current interventions, is the project idea? Does the project look at a new way of solving an existing social problem?

    At the final round when organisations pitch their ideas to the jury panel, they will be assessed on similar criteria, along with additional aspects such as their project presentation, confidence in the project idea, responses to jury questions, among others.

    If a film featuring your organisation was made as part of YIAC 2018, and if you have received a mail from YF with a call for project proposal, your organisation is eligible to apply.

    The last date for submission of application is May 15, 2018, 6 PM. Please note that the application portal will become inactive and applications cannot be accessed, submitted or edited after this date. All applicants are required to download a PDF copy of their application after submission, by this date.

    If your application qualifies for the next round, you will be contacted directly by the YES FOUNDATION team via email and phone.

    Unfortunately, no. YES FOUNDATION treats these documents as sound statements of your credibility and without the same, we cannot proceed with your application further.

    Yes. Each descriptive question has space for responses with a specific word limit mentioned next to it. Applicants will be viewed unfavourably if they exceed the word limit mentioned. Hence please ensure you are succinct and clear with your responses.

  • (Form-specific queries)My organization has all the necessary documents. However, we do not operate in more than 1 state. Would our project idea still be considered?

    Yes. As mentioned in question 5 above, applicants of all scale, nature of operations and working across social sector causes are eligible for grant funding on the basis of their project ideas and the criteria mentioned above.

    Yes. The YIAC project aims to support all types of credible organisations, and applicants will be adjudged solely on the criteria outlined earlier.

    Please ensure that you save your responses frequently while the application is still in progress. YES FOUNDATION will not be responsible for any information lost or for applicants missing the application deadlines owing to responses not saved.

    In case you have saved your responses and inputs but still cannot retrieve them, please write to us at ask@yesfoundation.in with the description of your query and a screenshot of the issue being faced.

    YES FOUNDATION strives to ensure that no application is marked unfavourably owing to barriers of communication. Applicants are only expected to provide specific short answers to questions asked and are not adjudged on the basis of their ability to communicate in English. However, it is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that they write clear and specific answers to the questions in the application form.
